
Graduation Information - Application for Graduation and Graduation Procedures
It is the responsibility of the candidate to apply for graduation
the semester prior to anticipated graduation, and to file an Application for Degree/Certificate form (available in the Registrar’s Office, 319L MED). Apply by Dec. 1 for spring, March 1 for summer, and July 1 for fall.
Graduation requirements are published in The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Catalog, under the General Information Graduation Procedures section and each school's section.
Candidates for certificates/degrees are required to complete the following procedures:
- Apply for graduation. Complete and return to the Registrar's Office the University's Application for Degree and Diploma Name Request form in the semester before anticipated graduation.
The student's diploma name as requested in the Application for Degree and Diploma Name Request form is printed on her/his diploma,
and information provided by the student is used in commencement programs.
- Register in the semester the certificate or degree is to be conferred.
- Attend an Exit Interview session scheduled by the Student Financial Aid Office for students who have received financial assistance which must be repaid after graduation.
- Return to the Registrar's Office the university's Graduating
Students Clearance Form, complete with all requested signatures, by the end of the semester the certificate or degree is to be conferred. Submission of this form is mandatory for release of a student's diploma.

Invitations, Academic Regalia
Invitations to commencement ceremonies can be ordered through the Bookstore (567-2841), which
also makes arrangements for academic regalia for students and faculty.
Class pictures
Class pictures (a composite of individual photos)
of graduating classes in the School of Nursing may be ordered by
degree candidates. Individual photographs are taken and order blanks
supplied prior to commencement ceremonies. Pictures must be paid for at
the Bursar's Office. The finished product is mailed by the Office
of Student Services to students who have ordered and paid for class pictures.
Group photos are taken at commencement rehearsals
for students in Allied Health Sciences, Nursing, Medicine, and Dental schools. Individual photos of each graduate receiving
her/his diploma or certificate may also be made at ceremonies. Students
may order copies and pay the photographer who will mail prints to students
when they are ready.
