Veterans and Military Students

Students who will be on military assistance programs should submit two copies of orders or an acceptance letter to the Bursar's Office in advance of registration.

  • Texas veterans may be eligible for assistance under provisions of the Hazelwood Act. An application for this program should be made with the Registrar's Office 60 days in advance of registration. Contact the Registrar’s Office (registrars@uthscsa.edu) for the appropriate application, or go to the VA Certification Web page for forms and more information..
  • New students who will be eligible for Veteran's benefits should come by the Registrar's Office well in advance of Registration to do the paperwork required to transfer or initiate benefits. Veteran's benefits recipients should additionally note that authorized enrollment certifications are not submitted to the V. A. until AFTER the census date of Veterans' respective programs EACH semester. It then takes the V. A. approximately 15 business days to process submitted certifications and release benefit payments. Consequently, benefit recipients will experience payment delays of up to two months between semesters of enrollment and should factor these delays into their financial planning each term.
  • Military personnel assigned to duty in Texas and their dependents who are not Texas residents may qualify to pay tuition at the resident rate. Arrangements must be made in advance of Registration through the Registrar's Office. Copies of orders and other required documents (marriage license, birth certificate) are required to establish eligibility.
