The Department of Physical Therapy will be offering a transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy (T-DPT) program starting Spring 2012. This transitional program will offer a modified version of the current DPT program to practicing therapists who graduated with a Master or Bachelor degree as their entry-level professional degree. It is currently pending approval.
The admission criteria are as follows:
Transcript of graduation from an accredited physical therapy program.
Current license to practice physical therapy in the United States.
Completion of the Texas Common Application.
Submission of a letter of recommendation from another physical therapist familiar with the skills and abilities of the applicant, preferably from the applicant’s current supervisor.
Successful completion of a background check upon preliminary acceptance to the program.
Evidence of valid health insurance upon preliminary acceptance to the program.
Immunization record/documents indicating vaccination status upon preliminary acceptance to the program. The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio requires complete current vaccinations prior to registration.
